Monthly Meetings

We meet on the 1^st Thursday of every month at 7.30pm.

During the winter months meetings are usually held at the King Edward Centre in Chatteris.

We have a varied program of speakers covering topics from beer-making to bee-keeping, the history of allotments to edible flowers and green burials as well as craft making activities.   Ideas for speakers are always welcome!

In the Summer months we go out and about and visit members homes, gardens and allotments as well as other venues of interest.

CSSG Produce Show

The Paul Smith Shield for a 5-A-Day-Plate
This is your opportunity to showcase five examples of any of your finest fruit and vegetables that you have grown.
Please bring up to four examples of any one item—so you might show one head of broccoli but four carrots, for example.

Potatoes
One dish of four potatoes of any variety or colour.

Bread
Any sort of bread, loaf, rolls etc whether made entirely by hand or in a machine.
A slice, or slices, will be cut from the bread to check the texture and taste. Packet mixes are not allowed.

Cakes
Any sort of cake, of any size or variety (including cupcakes if that is your choice).
The cake/s will be cut open to check the texture and taste. Packet mixes are not allowed.

Drink your garden
Anything you have made from your own produce (or foraged) will be welcome, whether alcoholic or otherwise.
Sample cups will be provided so people can taste what’s in the bottle.

Preserves
Once again, preserves must be made from your own home-grown produce.
There are two sections in this category, sweet and savoury, so your jam will not be judged in the same section as your chutney.

Crafts
We have lots of ‘crafty’ CSSG-ers—choose your favourite example/s and bring it/them along.

Flower arrangement
An arrangement, any size, of flowers from your garden or allotment, arranged in a suitable container.

We do hope you will want to join in by contributing to as many (or as few) categories as you wish.
If you don’t want to enter anything, then please come along on the night and vote for your favourite entry in each category and the winner is the person who receives the most votes.
The winner of each category will continue to be given £1 off their order from the Kings seeds catalogue in the autumn.
